Virtual Training Partner

Daily Quote: "Marathon running is a terrible experience: monotonous, heavy, and exhausting." --Veikko Karvonen, 1954 European and Boston Marathon Champ

Today is a Recovery Run.
6 miles. Time, 58 minutes. Overall pace, 9:40 minute miles. Out and back on Lanning Road. 9:30 a.m., Sunny, 61 degrees with no wind. Average heart rate: 139 bpm. Cardiac drift: 145 bpm. My body is feeling much better today, no aches nor pain! The rest of the week is fairly easy as I'm now in tapering mode.

For those who read my Turkey Trot 10k race report you might be a little confused with my mentioning my virtual training partner. I own a Garmin Forerunner 301, which is a GPS training device you wear on your wrist and has a feature called "virtual partner" that you can race against or help you with your pacing. On this page is a sample of the virtual partner screen. The sample shows what it looks like when you're ahead, when the virtual partner is ahead the bottom of the screen is black and states how far ahead he/she is from you. I've become quite attached to my virtual partner and have named him Garfield.
