The "2007 New Las Vegas Marathon" has a new computer chip that's attached to the shoe that's disposable!! The SAI Timing and Tracking System is the newest technology in computer chip timing and the race no longer needs to collect all the chips at the finish line. I can recall all those past races where I had to stand and wait just past the finish line to have the computer chip removed from my shoe by a race assistant, sometimes I would get so dizzy I felt like passing out...now I can just keep the disposable computer chip as a souvenir or just throw it away!!
Today is a Recovery Run.
6 miles, Time, 58 minutes. Overall pace, 9:40 minute miles. Out and back to Sun Coast Hotel and Casino, 9:30 a.m., Sunny, 57 degrees, North wind around 10 mph with gusts to around 20 mph! Average heart rate: 142. Cardiac Drift, 151 bpm. (Note: my maximum heart rate is 191 bpm.) Slow and easy run, no aches nor pain. It's getting colder, but it's the wind that's disheartening, I have such bad memories of past Las Vegas Marathons being very windy, but will keep a positive outlook for December 2nd no matter the weather.
