A Stronger Tempo Run

Daily Quote: "Marathoning is like cutting yourself unexpectedly. You dip into the pain so gradually that the damage is done before you are aware of it. Unfortunately, when awareness comes, it is excruciating." --John Farrington, Australian marathoner

Today is a Tempo Run.
10 miles. Time, 1:22. Average Pace, 8:12 minute miles. Life Fitness Treadmill set at a 1% elevation. Warm up: 2 mile @ 6.6 mph (9:06 minute mile). Tempo: 6 miles @ 7.7 mph (7:48 minute miles, which is 12 seconds less than marathon pace) Cool down: 2 mile @ 6.6 mph. Average heart rate: 154 bpm. Cardiac drift: 169 bpm. Next week I may attempt to start the Tempo Run with just a warm up of one mile, rather than two miles, this will give me more energy during the Tempo portion itself. I didn't listen to music today, preferred to concentrate on turnover and form.
